Dim sum @ Yum Cha, Chinatown

Hey hey....time for food blog! I have always loved this part cause nothing worth more than enjoying your life with 3Fs: Family, Friends and FOOD.

Last Friday I was on afternoon shift and dar-Ann was off so we decided to try something different for breakfast. Then we chose the most-recommended dim sum restaurant, Yum Cha Restaurant.

They have got two branches, one in Serangoon and one in Chinatown. Link: Yum Cha Restaurants

So, the one we visited was in Chinatown. They also offer dim sum buffet at odd hours 3-6 pm @ $19.90 per pax which is quite worth while if you can eat a lot.

Opens only at 11 am on weekdays and 9 am on weekends. As we were there 45 minutes earlier, we walked around Chinatown and I found it very impressing. Red lanterns were hanging in the air so much like the atmosphere of CNY.

Arrow pointing Yum Cha Rest.

Nth to do so snap photo...with dustbin??

Saw these bunch of huge GIANT bamboo shell in one of the seafood restaurant.

Finally 1055 am! We headed back to the restaurant.

Using escalator to go up

So, we were lucky to be considered first customer...reward?? no need to wait in Q. haha...

Very nice environment..very oriental

Well, this time around ordering is ala carte. So I don't see the waiters/waitresses pushing carts of dim sum around. And they only made upon ordering, which is, quality assured!

See their menu?? wow..

Ok, let's start the craving and drooling!

Prawn and Mango Saseme Fritters

This is the perfect combination! The mango was still sweet and juicy even after high heat frying. And the prawn was huge. OMG..this is must try.

Next is Yum Cha Prawn Dumpling. Making dumpling is not easy especially the skin must be thin and soft yet not easy to tear off upon steaming or else the juice would be wasted and it would be bad for presentation. Yum Cha made these just nice. Excellent!

Huge prawn in it..
So we didn't wait for long before all of our orders were out.

But I will still introduce them one by one.

Sth healthy, Spinach Siew Mai
The meat was very tender and again, very fresh and juicy. If you like chillies, then you can eat with chillies sauce.

Xiao Long Bao topped with shark fin
See how juicy inside? yummy to the moon!
Coming up was sth I would not order but not now...

Mini Goose Liver Xiao Long Bao
Goose liver freak me out a bit in the first place but having that it is very famous triggers my curiosity to give it a try.

OMG...THEY ARE SUPERB!!

Very delicious...

Dumpling is all around the place from hawker stalls to restaurants. But this is sth outstanding here at Yum Cha. It has got shark fin..i mean real fin in it!

Shark fin with meat dumpling

I like bak zhang, so must give this Lotus Leaf Glutinous Rice a try. I super love the texture of the rice. Sticky, soft, not too overdone. And the amount of meat was  just nice as some others would have put too many meat in it making me feel like I am so carnivorous.

Last but not least, a dim sum must have, Siew Mai.
Fish Roe Siew Mai
A total of 8 buckets of dim sum cost $45. So it makes about $23 per pax. So if you think you can eat more, go for the buffet.

Rating: E/F (aka Excellent/ Fabulous) !!

This explains why...

Just 10 minutes after dar-Ann and I sat in.

My Loves- Part 2

OK, let me continue to dig my treasures and show them to you k before I head for breakfast with dar-Ann.

No. 4

Yeah..that's my Flora Gucci!! This is love at first scent (which I have got Chanel Chance Fraiche, DKNY Apple, Estee Lauder Emerald Dream- also love at first scent!) and I got this in KLIA when I came back from my Guiling's trip. Perfume always lingers around women and now it is already very common for guys too.

See them clearly? I was never so crazy over nails coloring until I tried my very first manicure. That was 3 years back when I totally fell in love with the ambiance and services at  Polished Diva Nail Studio

So I have got here, 3 new colors from Etude House $6.90 each. 2 bottles of pedicure sparkle from Skin Food $ 7.90 each, 3 bottles of nail care and base from The Face Shop $2.90-5.90 and one healthy color from Nature Republic RM 5.90. Wow..so the most expensive is SKin Food products. After did some market survey, I found that Skin Food in Malaysia is LOTS cheaper than in Singapore.

My Loves-Part 1

*Drumming*

Revealing to the world soon of what are some of the buys i had in my closet.

OK, here comes the first item.. i super love this just-nice-size handbag that i got from Tangerine Tofu today @ Bugis for only $30!! They have got many other colors as well like brown, black, peach, beige, dark red and orange. They are all so pretty but as I will never stop with enough bags, I would better save some for my next target. *wink*

Here is one without flash..it is actually green and grayish color. Something new huh??

No. 2

Swarovski from darling Ann. Super love this and I am now addicted to Swarovski. So tempted to get the next piece. Soon eh, dar? *wink wink*

This is the latest and also limited edition necklace called Bordeaux crystal heart on a delicate gold-plated chain and there are at most 3 pieces in each of the bigger Swarovski chains in SG. hehe...Lucky me! Well, it would be cheaper if you get it only but do it only if you trust the seller. Make sure to ask for the warranty card. It should come together!

According to Wiki, Bordeaux is the name of a city. But i could not find why is it related to the name of this necklace.

The chain ended with a very nice Swarovski signature swan with 3 swarovski crystal again :)

No. 3

Birthday present for myself.
OK, blowing more candles meaning blowing more of the underlying collagen away. Meaning? Getting older, again. But this year, I made a wiser decision to treat myself to some exclusive make-up basics.

This set was not the initial set i planned to get which was the whitening series. But when the counter girl tried the whitening series on me, the foundation cracked on my face after application. Meaning?? My face too dry.

Gosh, I was shocked to find that just by choosing the right foundation could need so many knowledge of our own skin! Well, at least BB creams are more user friendly ^.^

OK, so I have got the perfection base, foundation and loose powder. All in all $320. I am loving this series, end result is porcelain, baby-smooth skin.

Alright, more to come...

....after my beaut sleep.

GNite world!
